Is the i7-6800k worth the extra money over the i7-5820k?

Greetings everyone,

I'm picking parts for a new computer I might buy soon.

I plan to do gaming and rendering.

You can see the parts I picked here http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Yxt8M8

The thing is, I still haven't decided if I should go with the 6800k or 5820k wich in my country is 100€ cheaper than the 6800k.
I heard many things about these 2 chips, some say the 6800k overclocks better, some say the 5820k is too old...

So, is the 6800k worth the 100€ more I have to pay for it?
Many thanks!

EDIT
In my country here is the prices for the chips:
i7-6700k - 343,32€
i7-5820k - 380,51€
i7-6800k - 489,65€

Solution
Honestly I don't think either of them are really worth the money, if I were you ide be happy with an I7-6700k but if you're willing to pay that much for a CPU ide say go for the 6800k no point spending that much money for old hardware even though its still a nice piece of kit to have.

This might have made things clearer. :wahoo:
For rendering the 5820k is worth the 37€ more! In gaming I will lose about 1-4 fps in some games compared to the 6700k wich I don't mind.
Now I don't know about the 6800k, would you still buy it if these were the prices available to you?

Firstly, yeah you're right the i7-6700k lags a good deal behind both the 5820k and the 6800k in rendering performance. I would even pay upto 70ish USD more for the 5820k over the 6700k.

For a rendering rig, 6800k and 5820k are both good CPUs. There are two big reasons (other than marginally better performance) to consider the 6800K over the 5820K:
1)You need more than 64GB RAM
2)You are an avid overclocker
If neither of those two is you, the 6800k doesn't have a whole lot to offer over the 5820K.

Personally, I don't think the 6800k is worth a 100 Euro more than the 5820K.

Thank you for that information. the real question is how much do you render though? if its only a couple hours a day then I would still say go for the I7-6700k as it has better gaming performance you get a newer hardware a nice Z170 motherboard and DDR4 RAM which is nice to have. This is my personal opinion though I like newer hardware and as I game more than I render I believe that the I7-6700k is the better choice but if you value rendering speed more then the I7-5820 is a very good option.

6700k isn't significantly faster than the i7-5820k in gaming, at that point, most people are GPU bound, not CPU bound. Unless you're running a SLI 1080s, I doubt it'll be a noticeable performance hit in games. The X99 platform is still current, and also uses DDR4 RAM, but there is merit to the argument that the Z170 chipset supports newer tech than the X99 chipset.

Ok thanks for the help, I do dedicate some days to only rendering and sometimes it takes more than what I want, that's why I want a six core CPU for my next PC, I want the rendering done as fast as possible but without breaking the bank so I can do other stuff and don't have to wait for the renders to finish.
For now I'll choose the 5820k but I'll wait on other people's opinions ;P

So you think the 5820k is better for my case?

as you do so much rendering I would agree that the I7-5820k is the best choice for you :)
