Question Is the i7 9700k worth the extra buck? (i7 9700k or i5 9600k)

Well, if for gaming, I'd strongly suggest the 9700k, or even the 8700k which is 6c/12t CPU.

The 9600k will push similar FPS, but with only 6c/6t it can get maxed out in some games and cause stuttering. The 9700k/8700/k give some extra resources. For a bit more longevity, I'd go the extra bucks for either an 8700/k or 9700k anytime over the 9600k. Games like BF V like more cores/thread. This will be the same for most AAA games coming out. Intel are slow moving with core/thread counts for mainstream CPU's, whilst the gaming devs are using HEDT CPU's for development. 6 cores (9600k) will hardly cut it in a years time. IMO

Agreed, the only time I'd recommend an Intel is an overclocked i7/i9 for absolute best performance in high FPS gaming (assuming you have a high refresh rate monitor and a suitably beefy GPU). Otherwise, Ryzen.

With regard to overclocking, if you are planning on doing any I don't know how far you'll get with that cooler.

Yeah, the Hyper 212 just about keeps the 9700k cool as is. Something with more ooomph, is needed :)

Intel is taking a nose dive now. Really disappointed to see the stats of 10th gen i9. Threadripper is taking the market by storm.

I might switch to AMD. Reviews are good. Plus it could help me more in rendering good Interior designs.

I am using 9700k right now. Probably the last one for me. Works fine though. I had 8700k before this one.

I actually don't recommend intel because amd simply offers better value, although if you are a moderate gamer go for 9600k it is pretty good for gaming but if you are doing video editing or want a serious gaming experience then go for 9700k
