Is the Intel Core 2 Quad q8400 compatible with a g41t-ad motherboard?

I'm looking to upgrade my current CPU with a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400. I have a G41T-AD motherboard and I cant seem to find any info about this CPU's compatibility with my motherboard. If my CPU isn't compatible please suggest the CPU's that are. Thanks!

A Intel Celeron 450 is currently installed http://ark.intel.com/products/35239/Intel-Celeron-Processor-450-512K-Cache-2_20-GHz-800-MHz-FSB. I don't know what the model was, but I do know that this motherboard was installed in a EMachines. Don't most CPU's work in a motherboard with the same socket?

No; the chipset, VRMs and BIOS also have to support the CPU. That motherboard probably doesn't support a Quad. According to a post that I found, a Core 2 Duo E6750 (65 nm) should work. It may be easier to find a Core 2 Duo E6700 (a Pentium E6700 won't work).

Will a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33GHz work? It seems that this is the best intel core 2 duo cpu for the money.

I haven't found a single post that proves it's compatible, but the risk is low as they cost next to nothing. If you don't want to take the risk, then get a CPU that's known to work.
