is the Intel Core i7 950 still good

So i have a Intel core i7 950 in my rig i i want to know if it is still good enough to play new games with a MSI Gtx 970

i only have the CPU right now and i am getting the GPU soon

it should be fast enough to power a 970, altho it is a very old CPU, so bottlenecks will come when games will become more and more demanding.

Its still a capable cpu. Though its outdated with some instruction. I saw in one benchmark that Its performance was compared close to newer fx 8320 and in some games closer to i5 2500k. You might drag that gpu in some games or apps though but in general, it can still rock!!

Yes! New is overated! My I7 950 OC with my GTS 450 OC edition (re-overclocked) runs latest games on 1980x1050 diplay (mid defenition)
