Is the Intel i5-4690K still good without overclocking?

I bought the ASRock H97 Pro4 to accompany the i5-4690K I bought, unaware that the H97 is incappable of overclocking. Now after, having the motherboard delivered I have realised this and I am debating whether to send it back in order to get the ASRock Z97 Extreme4, however if the i5 can perform really well without being overclocked I will just stick with the H97.
Thanks in advance :)

4690k is good as it gets in gaming. Like i said, even at stock would be enough to push any single or dual GPU.
You'll need Z97 and something like CM 212 Evo if overclocking. Its up to you...

I'll say keep what you have and next you know where to ask for opinions. Good luck!
Yeah I definetely wish that I had done the research beforehand but now I'm just wondering if the hassle of sorting it and the added cost of postage and package and then the fact that the Z97 is over £40 more I was just wondering if the i5 being unlocked would be sufficient enough to play newer open world games in high graphics?
