[SOLVED] Is the lga 2011-3 socket outdated?

I have a this socket, i am realizing i need to upgrade. I am looking at CPU's but am noticing way more options. what is the newest socket that will last me 5 years or so?

intel has bad record of not using sockets again.

amd will use the same socket for years and only change socket types when the technology actually needs to be updated.

Ok, Thanks i'll look into AMD. I like that.

amd had to update the am4 socket before there ryzen 3k series came out but that was more on the line they needed something to help the higher end 3Ks. the older am4 will run a 3K but some features MAY not function correctly. the feature differance only effects extreme overclockers and few other niche groups.

Remember that the socket is only a piece of the puzzle--bios support, chipset support, et al makes a difference too.
