is the LGA 2011 new or old?

yeah beoza is right. . also I am not sure when Skylake comes out but I think They are 1151 sockets also. But I heard they are not worth upgrading from looking at a couple of threads because they are basicllay quad cores. If you are enthusiast and want the new i7 chips of the 2011 v3 I would recommend the 5930k if you need more than 2 way sli. If not than you can go to 5920K. I don't think its worth going 8 cores 5960x unless you have the money to throw around like that. The market will probably be good for that processor in a year as its 1000 USD right now.
If you are on a budget just get a 4790K , If you want SLI more than 3 way you can get a high high end motherboard instead that provides PLX chip for extra PCI lanes from the GPU to the Chip , which than gives 16 PCI lanes to the CPU. Its what I am doing right now myself but I am having a hardtime picking one as the x99 motherboards basically have the good extra features like M.2 drives plus Sata express. And I am not sure if I should trust Asrock because I have no experience with any of Asrock products but I have been hearing that they are good, at least particularly the Z9 asrock extreme 9

If you doing a build from the ground up and have the money for it sure. You will be future proof outside of gaming but its really for people who do stuff like render videos ect. You will also be future proof what ever games start really needing more than 4 cores for significant performance difference but I think that will be a long time. I am not expert though just average joe.
