is the lower gpu temp the better ?
or under a specific number they are all the same ?
is a 60c running card the same as 75c card when it comes to life spans ?

Solution
You basically have total control over the fans speed and curve, depends on your noise tolerance while gaming, and whether your case has some noise dampening features to it. I have a set up of open side panels case with a dual display through 2x HDMI lengthy 10 feet cables to keep my tower at a good distance from my desk, helps greatly with the noise level especially if you couple that with wireless noise cancelling headset/mic and wireless mouse/keyboard and software driven fans speed and RGB adjustments you rarely need to get very close to your computer case.

1. Not necessarily
2. Yes
3. Yes

An endless chase to an absolute lowest temp is counterproductive. You're not getting better performance.

i know but wont it have a longer life span ?
im considering a gtx 1080ti sc card witch runs mostly at 70-75 and i dont know if its fine or not

75C is generally fine.
A 1080ti? Why? What resolution do you plan on? What are the rest of the parts?

The cooler the card the better not only for it's life span (which is arguable) but for the performance of the card itself
70-75 is a good in-game temp (under load), the idle temp should be below 40
I have the 1080ti SC blower fan, it idles at 32 with fan at 1400 in 20 room temp, excellent built quality and cooling capabilities. while gaming it stays under 60 degrees if I push the fan curve a bit aggressively, I like my GPU to stay below 65, but 70 to 75 is great in-game temp.

its an evga sc black edition card .. can i get the same temps as you with a 60-70% fan speed ?
i would LOVE to stay under 70c

Your card would run at least 5 degrees cooler than mine, all you need to do is to adjust the card fans speed using EVGA Precision utility and create custom profile (you can use MSI afterburner for the same purpose which I find much easier to navigate through options than evga precision)

is is extremely cool .. thanks for your comment
i was afraid of going with it as the high temps is a nightmare for me .. but now i can just set the power limit to 100%
and use a good fan curve and never go over 60c right ?

Solution
Naturally, it is best to have the lowest temperature you can, although there's no reason to go out of your way to pursue this other than for whatever reason your GPU is getting so hot that it is throttling. As an answer to your second question, once again if the two cards are the same and they aren't throttling, they will perform the same at different temperatures. And for your third question, their lifespans will basically be the same, as temperature won't really effect your cards lifespan unless your card is constantly hitting around 80C.

Hope this helps!

i dont mind noise at all
you think capping fps at 75 at 1080p with a good fan curve and setting the max power limit to 100% will keep me under 65 c ?

If you cap FPS your card temps and noise would decrease proportionally to the FPS "economy". The 1080Ti is a beast of a card and it's really an overkill for single monitor 1080p, it runs dirt3 at 260 FPS at 1920x1200 ultra all settings maxed out : 60 degrees 98% GPU usage with fan at 70%, coming from an R9 290X, the new level of effortless gameplay comfort is just indescribable, it looks so easy on the card to deliver that you start suspecting it's tricking the system.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from therios : "is a gtx 1080 running at 72c fine ?"

im a little worried about the temps .. whats the problem ?

yeah lets asume that its in a case with good air flow with the same fan speeds
will the gpu running cooler have a longer life span ?

Not really. As long as the gpu stays within operating perameters, it'll last as long as it lasts. It's only when pushed beyond acceptable temps that deterioration and electrical bleed start ruining things.

Test the airflow. Test the game at a certain point, for @15mins, record the temps. Pull the side off the case and retest the same point for @15 mins recording those temps. In a case with good airflow, there'll be little difference in temps. If the gpu is starved for airflow, or has its exhaust returned, there'll be a sizable difference.

Just because a case has potential for good airflow and plenty of fans, doesn't necessarily mean it has good flow, just means it could.
