Question Is the MAXIMUS Hero VII compatible with the EVO 970 Plus?

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the hardware needs of the EVO 970 Plus. Some people have told me that my MAXIMUS Hero VII will not work with it, some have told me it will, and a few have told me that the motherboard will cripple the potential performance of the storage drive but is technically compatible. I feel hopelessly confused about it and just need to know if I need to upgrade my motherboard to take full advantage of this or not.

Could anyone help and shed some light upon this?

Not worth using on that board it will only run at x2.
