was thinking about getting the asus m5a97 r2.0, but this is much cheaper, as i realized I need a more expensive psu.

my parts:
cpu: amd fx 6300
gpu: amd r7 265
ram: patriot viper xtreme 8Gb

does anyone know if this mobo will make the other parts less effective? or would it work well with those parts?
also, does anyone have experience with this mobo and can tell me how it was for them?

update: no ones mentioned it yet, but just in case, let me make it clear i dont plan on overclocking and i dont plan on using sli or crossfire

I actually looked into that board myself. however, ive read too many reviews that claim it stopped working anywhere from a week to 6 months. thats why i turned away from that gigabyte mobo. this asus board also has similar reviews, but much less in number (as im sure its impossible for a particular model to never have this problem). so im just wondering, do you have experience with either one of these boards?

Sorry I read the title wrong, I thought you meant you were going to get the m59a7, not the m5a78-l... if you want to overclock go with the m59a7 or Gigabyte 970A- UD3P ( slightly cheaper than the m59a7).

The M5A8L-M will work fine for your system, but consider this board for $5 more if you want USB 3.0:

i cant find the source anymore, but the other day i saw someone say it doesnt have anything to connect to the front panel usb on a case. i dont know if i read it incorrectly or if they had a defective product, but can anyone clear this up for me?

Most likely they messed up or it was defective. Hardly any ( maybe none at all) motherboards these days do not connect to front panel USBs.

so one thing i still cant decide on... is it worth for me to spend twice as much for the asus m5a97 r2.0? or with my other components, will both do be good for me (in which case i should go for the cheaper one obviously)?

Get the M59a7 or Gigabyte UD3P only if you really need to overclock with it. Another plus is that they are full sized atx, so it will be easier to work with, but micro atx will be fine.

Matx is good if you're on a budget. You will lose zero performance with the micro atx board.

alright so since im not planning on overclocking, and i dont care if its micro atx or atx, im leaning much more on the m5a78lm lx plus side. so thanks!

If you want to buy the budget am3+ MB for the fx6300, buy the GA-78LMT-USB3 like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128565 it is better than the M5A78L-M LX PLUS, because 1) the GA MB has the heatsink on the VRMs section ( MOSFETS), i.e. http://www.overclockers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=117578&stc=1&d=1350995387 here is the GA-78LMT-USB3 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81kZPqaqivL._SL1500_.jpg here is the M5A78L-M LX PLUS http://www.asus.com/media/global/products/IZxHVUuVo8OWSDbz/oUPx96BnCkhvgERj_500.jpg 2) also the GA has the 4+1 VRMs, and ASUS has 3+1 VRMs, 3) GA one has the USB3.0 , 4 X memory slots, etc.

More VRMs and heatsink on the VRMs section can also help to run the fx6300 stable even you don't oc, because VRMs are to power the cpu and heatsink is lower the heat on the MOSFETS.

is there a big difference between the ram being 1600 MHz or 1333 MHz?

There might be a very slight difference, but you can get 1600mhz ram for the same or cheaper price.

the gigabyte ga-78lmt usb3 does seem better than the asus m5a78l-m lx plus in terms of specs. however, generally speaking, people say that gigabyte boards aren't as reliable as asus. I know im generalizing a lot here, but thats why i was leaning more towards asus. however, i was wondering if you all think this isn't true for boards around $50, as emdea22 mentioned.

Gigabyte makes solid boards, I wouldn't worry about it. Even if you look at the best motherboards, there's always those select few on newegg that had issues with it DOA, no post, etc..

one other issue i read about that gigabyte board i believe in someones review in newegg is that it only lets you have the cpu fan and one additional fan in the case. anyway to confirm this? I would like to have at least 2 fans in addition to the cpu fan my case

You just connect them directly to PSU cables, not the motherboard. You might need an adapter for the psu cable depending on if you get a 3pin or 4pin fan.

any idea if the asus m5a78l-m lx plus can have 16 Gb ram, 8 in each slot? on asus's website, it says it can support it... but someone told me in the book that it comes with, as well as tigerdirect's website, says each slot holds up to 4 Gb
