Built a PC recently for my cousin and after a month it randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I haven't gotten a chance to see it in person yet. He opened the case and no lights come on at all when he tries to power it on. He plugged in another PSU to test it and still nothing. Is it safe to say the motherboard is just a dud? He's covered by warranty so it's no big. Just wanted to know what other tests I could tell him to do to be positive that's the problem. Thanks in advance.

if their is no light's on the board then that means motherboard is dead. that is if you see your power supply fan running.

this is one test you can do to see if your power supply is still functioning or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRhaI4W8d9s hook a fan to the power supply and insert the paper clip in the right places and turn on the power supply. if the fan spins then you are good. DO NOT TOUCH THE PAPER CLIP WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER SUPPLY. most likely your motherboard got fried. he prob tired to overclock and fucked up the board.
