Is the msi Z97-G45 a good motherboard?

I went to micro center recently and they had a bundle going on: i5 4690k with a motherboard, $60 discount. So I got it because the employee guy recommended the motherboard,(I was going to get the cpu anyway). I heard people getting blue screens because of the killer 2200, is this true. Those who have the mobo, is it good?

Take it back Get something better, you dont have to go with their advertised motherboards, you'll get the discount with any motherboard there.

Ive had nothing but trouble and subpar preformance with MSI.. The temperatures are always higher on MSI boards of same price range compared to Gigabyte and Asus.

Which i recommend, Gigabyte and Asus... More so gigabyte, but ive had good experiences with Asus.. I loved the Sabretooth variants.

Just because you had a bad experience with msi in the past doesn't mean other people will, you never told me anything about the motherboard

Yet you cited people having problems with them. It isn't just me man. But hey if it works for you.. Why worry?

And it wasnt just "A" bad experience, its everytime but 1 ive tried a MSI board. (only bought them because on sale or within budget of some customer's) Ive tried them on 7 different occasions, 3 of which are modern Haswell, Ivy, and FX processors. And i took them back and swapped em out for the same board only to run into the same issues.

I dont haven't the same problems with Asus and Gigabyte. (Motherboard getting to 70+ during gaming, Sata ports not working, Sound Card not working)

I'd look at Asus for Z97, as far as MSI - I won't build on them due to their poor QC, the builders and IT folks I network with are all pretty much the same, won't touch MSI. In/about the price I'd look at the Asus Z97-A

Another piece of advice, dont take advice from microcenter employees.. I love the store, and love the deals.. But anytime they try to push something on you, its normally because its not selling and they're getting some commision boost from pushing it.

Some of them know what they're doing, but really take their advice with extreme cynicism

msi z97-g45 is the upgrade mb of z87-g45, it good
but for me, I like msi z97 gaming 5 better (well, different price though)

anyway, there always have someone talk about msi qc..butI never have the qc problem with msi at all.....

and that's the problem with QC, you never know if you'll get a good component or a bad one and if bad what the problem(s) is/are/will be...... I get more problem calls on their mobos than any 2 other manufacturers put together (and I don't even build on them) 😉
