Hi I have a super quick question. Is the Netgear Orbi RBK50 omnidirectional in its wifi coverage? Looks like it here according to the graphics. I want to place a satellite about 7 feet off the floor and need coverage for devices closer to the floor. One Netgear rep said things would be fine the other said that the signal was elliptical and would be a little weaker for lower placed devices. Thanks!

It is actually much more complex because almost no wifi only uses a single antenna anymore which is why they say it is elliptical.

A second confusing things is wifi is not spherical. Omni directional only sorta of means it transmit in all directions. Almost all wifi antnnea transmit signal the have most the power horizontal to the unit in a circle. So they work best for device on the same floor and transmit less power vertically so devices on different floors do not work as well.

In general there is very little you can do about this. The signals bounce all over the place in your house anyway...that is how mimo works. It is also not likely you hold your cell phone perfectly in line anyway but it works fine in most cases.

The only time you are really concerned about this is if you are trying to say transmit the signal long distances then the antenna angles mean much more.
