Is the Nvidia GeForce GT 610 silent card good for gaming?

Depends on what game. It's a very low end card that performs on par with top of the line cards from 10 years ago. Old games will run great, but newer titles will struggle greatly.

I did research it, and im sorry, im not a techy computer guy, but everywhere i checked it said it is good for gaming. Especially on tiger direct, where i ordered it from, it praised it for its physics engine and decent modern gaming abilities. What should i do then? can i return it to tiger direct? what one should i get then? im wanting to keep it around $60, maybe $70. I am aware that wont get me a real top end one at all, i just need one to run modern games.

If you already have it, and have that kind of a budget; you may as well keep it. As far as what it can run goes, just experiment with different games on different settings and see what you can get away with it.

Yes, I completely see your point but that's just marketing for you. They wouldn't put "Buy this very poor card from Nvidia, it delivers low frames at low settings in average 720p" hahahaha. No but seriously, for a non-techie it is misleading; I think it just goes to show that research is vital when buying products that you're not sure of.

For fut if its a nvidia card, ignore the first number, and last number and look for a 5 or higher in the second number, Geforce X5X

If you actually want a gaming card get a X6X card like the nvidia 660

I run all the games including Resident evil 5-6 and even assasin's creed on NVIDIA GT610 and trust me they all run well,never hang or crush in the middle.
Note: I keep all my drivers up to date along with my windows 8 pro 64bit.

My configuration:

Ram: 8GB
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce GT610 (Asus silent edition 2GB)
Motherboard: Gigabye
OS: Windows 8 pro
CPU: Intel core i3

Don't see what other's are saying i am a computer geek and i know about it , i too have that card
it runs every games till date in low and medium settings , it is a very good card
I am playing splinter cell blacklist at medium settings , It is a very good card.

Note- keep all your drivers up to date !

It is a fermi based card. Which is not for gaming but for multimedia purposes. Casual gaming will be okay .
Examples of games like : League of Legends, HoN , Counter Strike Source, Battlefield 4 ( With i3 -3210 , 4GB Rams should be fine ) , Dota 2 and so on.
I would suggest HD7750 :)
