Is the "off" position in Bose QC35 (I or II) headphones really off?

The power switch is a 3 position switch in which it latches into the "on" and "off" positions. It's like this, where () is a momentary position:
OFF-ON-(BLUETOOTH)
Pushing the switch to the BT position scrolls through devices. If you do it for 3-7 seconds pairing mode is turned on. If you do it for 8 seconds all devices are unpaired. When the switch clicks into the "off" position shutdown happens (shuts off LEDs, plays closing tones, disconnects all devices, shuts off the radio, then shuts off ANC, if enabled). Is "off" really off?

I've heard about physical switches (in some devices) where it tells the microcontroller to shutdown instead of cutting power directly.
Some devices, sure.
Turn your TV off, and its not totally off. It needs some little bit of ON, to respond to the remote.

But for this one, does it give any indication of that being the case?

Plays a shutdown sound, then shuts off ANC when the switch is clicked into the off position. Also the pairing mode is controlled by the same switch.
