My music prod. PC has been perfect for a couple of years . The whole system (monitors, displays, subs, synths etc) are on a current sensing switch, controlled by the PC, so when I turn the PC on, everything else turns on too (there is a delay built in). When I shut down the PC everything shuts down as well. All this has been fine, but recently it has come down with a peculiar problem. Unless I power off my FireWire interface BEFORE shutting off the PC, the PC will power off, but start itself 10-15 sec. later. I wonder if anyone has a clue if this is likely a problem with: The PSU, or MB, or the FireWire pci card, or the external interface? BTW, if I turn the interface back on seconds after the PC has shut down, the PC will start up again. If I wait for a minute, it wont. Any ideas, anyone?

The interface is an Alesis Master control. If I disconnect it, the PC works normally. If it is connected, and left on, the PC will restart. But I don't see why that would necessarily make the Alesis the culprit. Isn't the firewire card just as likely? Or?

Hi, and thanks. Yes, it is puzzling, and it started all of a sudden, without any hardware changes. I have disabled all "wake up" settings, but it still does it. Also, I just noticed, one of my USB ports has gotten "flaky" . It has a wireless keyboard rec/trans, and sometimes that doesn't work. Also all of a sudden.
