Is the Q8200 good?

Hi!
i need some opinions on the Intel Q8200 cpu cuz i want to get a quadcore =)
right now i have a core 2 duo e4600 (2.4ghz) and i just got a GTX 260, so, i want to get a nice quadcore
is this a good choice for some gaming and using photoshop?

The q8200 is ok, but it doesn't support xp virtualization, which is used with windows 7 pro or ultimate to run files from xp with windows 7. If you need this feature, spend a little more for another q; but check the cpu support section for your motherboard and see if a bios flash is required to use the new cpu. If it's not on the list, then it won't work.

In the meantime, overclock your Core2Duo to at least 3.0GHz to reduce bottleneck.

Even the stock cooler can do some decent OCing.

the q8200 is a good basic quad core. It has some drawbacks though it sucks at OCING you will be lucky if you can get it to 3.0ghz because of its low locked multiplier if you look at some benchmarks you will see that a higher clocked e7000 or e8000 proccessor will win in most cases except certain multicore software that takes advantage of all four cores if i was you IMO the only q series you should be looking at is the q9650 or the older q6600 the q8200 will not be a good gameing processoer. I had my choice for my system between a q8200 or an e8400 i went with the e8400 for the fact that i am able to OC it up to 4ghz on air and it will trash a q8200 in "most" games except the few exceptions that use all four cores like GTA. So in conclusion if you really want a quad core dont go with the q8200
