Is the razer surround software better than a 7.1 virtual surround headset?

Well Razer Surround pretty much makes any pair of headphones a 7.1 virtual headset, so yes better in that respect since you can use any quality headphone of your choice.

If you have Windows 10 (1703 or later) you can also enable "Windows Sonic for Headphones" spatial sound mode it's also virtual surround, pretty much the same difference.
