Is the RX 470 a good choice?

Hello, I recently found out that the RX 470 is almost on par with the RX 480, and decided to do some more research on whether or not I should get it. I found a lot of people saying that both of these cards, along with the RX 460, were experiencing very bad issues. These people explained driver issues, causing crashes and blue screens, or the usage going to very high numbers while idle. A lot of this caused low fps in games, and stuttering/freezing. I was just wondering if these issues with the drivers or the cards themselves were resolved. If so, would it be a good choice to get one of these?

Your mileage may vary - there are multiple reports of people having issues with AMD cards, but same can be said for NVIDIA cards - each rig is different and issues can always arise from million different reasons. Personally, I have never had a single issue with AMD cards, and I have used 8 different models in past 10 years. 470 is a great card. If we all had to purchase based on other people's issues, I believe that noone would ever buy a single component 😉

Driver issues were solved months ago. 470 may give better value on a performance per watt basis, but the 480 pulls ahead in every benchmark, some pretty significantly.

Full disclosure: recently in same situation and chose the RX 480.
