I am on a budget of about 500 Pounds for the entire system. I want to buy a cpu that will play my games and do office work great, i don't do much multitasking on pcs. If i'm not wrong, games only use 4 cores so is it better for me to get the 2600x? I'm really confused and new to this. Thanks for any help!

I went with the 2600 (no X). Just bump up the voltage and clock speed and you're at 2600x performance. A new big sale seems to pop up every other week. I wasn't on a budget either, just made the most sense to me (with the help of others).

I used to buy exclusively from Newegg, but Amazon seems to have the better deals now.

Even the ryzen 5 1600 is really nice, go for the ryzen 2600x but i guess ryzen 2700x has more cores and that it's a must in the future, for gaming the 2600x it's okey
