Is the Ryzen 7 2700X and RX 480 4GB a good combo? And will 4GB of vram be enough for graphically intensive games on a 2560 x 1080 monitor?

Specs:
-RX 480 4GB
-Ryzen 7 2700X
-MSI X470 Gaming Plus motherboard
-Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8) 3000mhz RAM
-Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Solution
The X really isn’t worth the extra money even if you’re not overclocking. $50 more for a .1 or .2mhz boost is not worth it especially considering the way Ryzen boosts itself. And yes if you can get a 1070ti and a 2600 you will be very pleased.

You’ll most likely need to take the side panel off of your pc and there will be a sticker on the side of the psu. Usually it will say the wattage but it will definitely show you the wattage for the 12v rail and the 5v rail etc. If you see a name brand and a model number that would be great. Just because it says 600 watts doesn’t mean a whole lot. A cheap 600 watt psu does not equal a nice 600 watt psu. Try to let us know what you have!

As far as GPU brand I’ll admit that I’m an ASUS fanboy...
The 2700x is overkill for the 480. If i were you at the resolution I’d go for a Ryzen 2600 and a 1070. Unless you can budget a Ryzen 2700 and a 1070. The X versions offer little benefit especially if you’re overclocking.

I would probably get the 2600X because i dont really know how overclocking works that well. But I'm certainly willing to learn for the price difference. What about the 1070 TI for an extra few bucks? Also what the best brand for this card? I also dont know if my PSU is enough for the 1070, how would i check the PSU wattage? The recommended wattage for this card is 530W.

As far as GPU brand I’ll admit that I’m an ASUS fanboy. But you really can’t go wrong especially if you’re not going to try and overclock the GPU aggressively. Two fans are always better than one though. But I prefer ASUS and EVGA over the others. The only real advantages one card might have over another is extra power delivery or better cooling. So unless you’re really worried about overclocking or having a very quiet system I’d get whatever hurts my wallet the least.

Ok, what about this 1070 TI? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077Z6LFQ1/?tag=pcpapi-20&th=1

This would be the setup:
-Geforce GTX 1070 TI (EVGA)
-AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6 Core AM4 Processor
-MSI X470 GAMING PLUS AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard
-Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
-Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
-PSU---still have to look
When I'm checking the PSU, I know I'm supposed to unplug everything but do I have to wear one of those wrist things because static shock? I'm on a solid floor..

= $849 (basically a new PC lol)

Definitely the 1070 ti with 2600. As long as you stay within the realm of mainstream companies(EVGA, ASUS, MSI, PNY, Gigabyte, etc.) you are probably fine, try to find whoever will give you best warranty.

PNY and EVGA often offer long warranties and are known for replacing card even if it dies shortly after warranty expires, MSI I know has some good customer service and will get you a replacement very fast if your card dies in warranty. I haven't owned ASUS or gigabyte so can't speak from experience with them.

I also wanted a monitor with freesync (2560 x 1080) but that would go wayy over budget which is why i left out a new GPU because it costs an arm and a leg. This is the model monitor i have...any good? (Acer K272HL)

Do you have an AMD card also, to get the 1070 ti to use freesync? If not then I would leave out freesync and focus on res and refresh rate. 1080p 144hz would be smooth. Acer GN246HL costs the same

Oh I just saw the 2560, nevermind. Why 2560x1080 and not 2560x1440?

Ok, yeah i meant G-Sync, but do you think my monitor is fine with this setup its a 60hz

It'll function fine, I don't think it's particularly amazing. gaming will be smoother with a higher refresh rate monitor such as 120hz/144hz and will look sharper with a higher res monitor like 1440p. 1070ti I think should be able to play on a 1440p 120/144hz with gsync just fine and will be a lot better of an experience. But then that costs $

Yes it will be fine. If you just really want ultrawide. Have you tried an ultrawide before to know you like it?

Also you won’t need the X470 mobo. Any B350/450 would be a better value.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119140&Description=Strix%20b450&cm_re=Strix_b450-_-13-119-140-_-Product

This ASUS board is cheaper and looks nicer IMO. Also ASUS has a much easier to use BIOS then MSI. But even a much less expensive B350 board would be fine. You can spend as little as $60 on a B350 and put the extra money toward something more important.

Sounds like a nice board but the one i have in my future build is $90 at Micro Center and the one you mentioned is $120 on Micro Center. Do they both perform the same? Performance wise?

Oh if it’s that cheap at micro center it’s a good deal! I was going off Newegg prices. But if you find a cheaper b350/450 at micro center that’s all you need. The A series boards do not support overclocking but the B series and X series do. The X series is aimed toward serious overclocking and multiple GPU’s. They have more niche features. The B series is more affordable and has everything you’ll need. But that is a really good price on that x series board.

Some people might get mad at me for saying this but I’ve built a lot of PC’s and never used an anti static wrist strap. You’ll be fine just checking your PC for sure.

Ok, can i just take out the main wire that goes to my search protector because i dont wanna have to unplug everything from computer
