Interesting. I doubt the US government would respond in this manner. Could it be a private entity that's decided it's time for payback?

When most of the people don't have electricity or water I don't think the people will even notice. The only people to notice lack of internet is dear leader and his henchmen. Also, it's most likely the Japanese government performed the hack.

Of course we're behind it. It was likely as difficult as having Larry at the NSA push the blue button. Operation deny dear leader his pornhub in full effect, sir!

I have to wonder if the same entity is responsible for both attacks (against Sony and North Korea). Some group might be trying to stir up major trouble for their own nefarious reasons.

N. Korea has offered to form a joint task looking into finding out who is really responsible. Seems to me that we have an opportunity to work with them, and it would be good for all to try to do so.

As I understand it North Korea has only 274 internet users!!! I would be very surprised if the US government is not monitoring and recording the internet traffic of everyone of those users. So the US should know exactly what they did and didn't do and have the evidence to support it. Also I imagine the North Korean government is also monitoring and recording everyone of its internet users and have the evidence that they did not do it.

Ready in all war spaces... What does N.Korea honestly think they are going to do to us? The last time they ran their mouths about their high tech I.C.B.M (that crashed miserably into the ocean 30 miles off shore) We parked a battle group off their shores and their leader disappeared for several months.. We could turn that country into a smoldering crater in all of about 30 minutes, does their government not realize this or is Kim Jong really that insane ?

I doubt the US did this, obama wouldn't want to offend or annoy his buddy. Heck, he hasn't even drawn one of his famous "red lines".

Odds are this is self imposed to control the information. Regardless of how many actually have the internet in Nokor, information tends to spread like a brush fire when people are unhappy.

Again this is an attack against common people. Kim & other pig's have secure satellite links that can't be touched by this. As it's stupid attack DDOS their is a big scale of getaway servers behind it so it is government. It's not Japanese as they know China would jump in & on them & they just want business this day's (Japanese). If NSA can hack you (American common citizens) & EU alias every day why wouldn't they hack Korean's?

The situation regarding access to information in North Korea is bad enough as it is. If the US is really bombarding them with a DDOS, it would only go to show just how far liberty is behind revenge in their list of priorities.

Anyone can hack anyone...why doesn't everyone hack everyone?
Wheres the proof? Is this another one of those "We have proof they have Weapons of Mass Destruction?" "That we just sold to them 5 years ago...". Like Iraq.

Obama is now talking to Kim on the phone, "check if the network cable is plugged in"
Kim, "It's plugged in."
Obama, "Power cable?"
Kim, "It's plugged in."
Obama pause......silence...."Power down the modem and see if that works."

That is what I think it is. I think that Sony or someone who works for them got some balls, hired Anonymous or some other hacker group, and did a little 'turnabout is fair play' on the North Koreans.

He is an ass who thinks that he is untouchable. That is his problem, he is not insane, he thinks that no one can touch him as long as he stays in North Korea. Which is kinda true, we are not going to go to war with North Korea absent them directly attacking another nation because of their nukes.

Good I love it, DDOS them for the next year, can't hack us without any internet.

As multiple news agencies have reported. Most of their hacking exploits are not done from locations within North Korea. Because there are so few physical connections between North Korea and the rest of the internet, taking the country offline is a relatively simple activity that anyone with a few hundred dollars worth of equipment could do. This DDOS of North Korea will have minimal impact on anything. It's more symbolic than anything.

@ mamason
"Anyone can hack anyone" not at this lv. For such a large scale you need a lot of supercomputers for a dumb attack. As I am certain it's not academic community it must be a government. You're friends that form cionist government. It's well globally known including US about NSA's dirty did's. I just stated If they hack/slash & spy they own people & allies why would they not do it to others that are considered as a threat & potential enemy. So it's common sense based on known facts.
You are probably right, let's nuke them & then call it humanitarian strike. O I forgot they have ICMB.

Yeah, and OJ is looking for the real killer as well. Why don't you help him on his search?

I don't understand how the quote button is supposed to work.
Guess it's not.

The DDoS doesn't necessarily kill their Internet connection but regardless if people in North Korea used the net much why would one want to destroy the usage?

The more they learn about the rest of the world the better.
