Is there a device that can convert coaxial to ethernet connection?

Hi,

I may have the idea of this wrong, but I was wondering if there was any type of device at all that could convert the input from a coaxial cable to an ethernet cable to gain internet connection.

I plan to play games on a PC I just built, but I was looking through various solutions for joining a network at a long range from an access point with the best connectivity. I removed the coaxial cable from my cable box and plugged it into an old router I had, and I was able to get a wired connection to my computer.

I'm looking for other options because this old router is an Actiontec MI424WR Rev I, and just isn't optimal for gaming. I noticed several spikes that were even worse than wireless connection.

So, my question is, is there any device (switch, router, even a cable converter) that would allow me to convert a coaxial connection to ethernet? The ones I have came across are all ethernet to coaxial, which really wouldn't help me too much. If there is such a device, then recommendations and the type of technology used would be appreciated.

Well, yes.

However, we'd kind of need to know all the other parts in your house LAN.

What type of connection comes into the house? Cable, fiber, DSL, other?
The Actiontec MI424WR leads me to think Verizon fiber?

What type of wiring goes through the house? Coax everywhere?

If you have FIOS with an Actiontec MI424WR router, you can get FIOS to enable the ethernet port on the ONT. Then you can use any ethernet based router.

And you don't even need that.
The default FiOS install is coax from the ONT to your router. That ActionTec.
Then ethernet out from that.

However...the internet signal already exists in the coax line from the ONT.
A splitter in the right place, and a single MOCA device elsewhere, can provide a stable, fast ethernet signal to a device at the other end of the house.
That's how my upstairs gets a wired signal.

It goes both ways.
In a house without Verizon FiOS, but with coax everywhere...you'd simply use 2.
router->Cat5e->MOCA->house coax->MOCA->Cat5e->PC
