Is there a difference between usb header and usb port

I have a GA-Z87X-oc force motherboard with 2 usb2.0 mobo headers. Since I have many internal devices which needs a usb 2 header, I would like to ask whether getting a 'usb port to usb header' adapter to support my extra internal devices is a good choice or is there a drawback or incompatibility.

well a usb header usually provides 2 usb ports and power for 2, while 1 port is only, well, 1 port. It depends I guess on what the device you need a header for is, and what it requires and if needs the 2 ports off the header for bandwidth and power or not.

Sorry, my question was not so clear. I meant that i have a front bracket with 4 usb 2 ports and 2 usb 3 ports. I have no issues with the usb 3 but the usb 2 on the bracket takes up all of my motherboard's 2 headers. I have an SD card reader which has a usb 2 header but no where to plug onto the MOBO, so maybe a 'usb port to usb header' adapter would be an answer?
