[SOLVED] is there a GPU that is overkill for a Ryzen 2600 CPU with HP25x 144hz 1080 monitor?

I put my budget for a GPU around $350 if necessary. I just don't want to unnecessarily buy a card that is overkill for my new setup.

MSI x470 Gaming M7 AC Mobo
Ryzen 5 2600
16G DDR4 3000Mhz
650w Corsair PSU
HP 25x 144Hz 1ms 1080p 24" FreeSync Monitor - not necessarily married to get an AMD graphics card

I currently have a GTX 680 GPU that worked in an older AM3 build but won't work on the new board for some reason. Tried all sorts of troubleshooting as listed on the Troubleshooting page here on Toms. Ideas welcome!

Solution
I'd say you can go with just about anything.
I'm running an RTX 2080 Ti on an i7-7800X which isn't that much faster than your Ryzen and I'm having no problems.
Check the benchmark scores of the i7 versus the Ryzen. They are pretty close.

I've had my eye on that Gigabyte as well as this ASUS - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126111&Description=gtx%201070&cm_re=gtx_1070-_-14-126-111-_-Product

But then I heard about the FE RTX 2060 coming out later this month and wondered if I should wait though I hear some critics do not like Founders Edition thermals.

Cool Thanks! What kind of monitor do you have?

My first RTX 2080 Ti FE failed just like all the rest you might have read about.

NVidia overnighted me this one about two months ago and no issues.
