[SOLVED] Is there a GTX 1650 Super that fans don't surge, rev randomly etc?

Solution
An RX 580 8GB will edge out a 1650 Super . . and until recently, despite it being an older, power-hungry architecture, I would've suggested it. But for some reason, RX 580 prices have gone up. It's insane.

I would definitely follow @rcald2000 's advice, and keep an eye out on the 1660 Super. Honestly, even the 1660 non-super, as it will handily outperform the GTX 1650 Super and RX 580, and the prices have been dipping down on occasion.

Also, once in a while, you might see a 1660 Super as only about $10-$20 more than the 1660, which would definitely make it worth considering.

It's going to get VERY interesting when the holiday sales start coming in to full swing.

EDIT: I should point out, however, that the RX 5600 XT has...
any 1650 super (?)
Just set a manual fan curve if the sound annoys you.
I'm haven't purchased yet, just going on reviews, more people seem to be having this issue with Gigabyte & MSI than Evga & Asus Rog Strix, and some said--especially with windforce--that they had problems manually setting; that would still rev up randomly; am newbie so don't know; read tried MSI Afterburner without success?

alphacoyle It's interesting that you mention the Gigabyte Windforce. Until recently I owned a Gigabyte 1660 Ti Windforce OC and it happened to be one of my favorite GPUs ever. When I would enter a game, the fans would spool up into this ASMR whoosh sound, that was only audible for a second and a half, and then it would go silent, at least to my ears. The things I love most about that card was the sound profile, followed by the performance. I never even touched the fan curve, because I felt it was perfect. I used the card for 1440p @ 60 Hz gaming at the time.

Which CPU and GPU do you currently have? By the way, the 1660 Super would be a much better purchase. I believe that 1650 Super's sells for $170, while 1660 Super's retail for $240. But besides the improved performance, the 1660 Super has 6GB of VRAM versus the 1650 Super's 4GB. How much that matters depends on what you're upgrading from? If you currently have a 1050 Ti, with 4GB of VRAM, then I don't think that I would bother with the 1650 Super.

I recently built this pc, i3-10100, no GPU yet but case has plenty of room/ventilation for GPU. I have been thinking of the 1660, since the 1650 Super price increase.
So you have not experienced the fans speeding up/slowing down issue?
(I am looking at putting a 1050ti in an XPS8300 for my son as it will only support up to Pascal, not Turing, which is as much as he'd use anyways though prices of 1050ti cards are almost the price of 1650. Speaking of Gigabyte Windforce, among the 1050ti that's the one I am most impressed with.)

EDIT: I should point out, however, that the RX 5600 XT has had a couple of models on crazy sales recently. One fairly recently (last week?) was available for $229.99 after rebates, and another about 2 weeks or so before that was $219.99 after rebates. Easily outperforms the 1660 Super, and slightly edges out the 2060. At those prices, I couldn't recommend the 1660 or 1660 Super.

Currently, though, the cheapest one is $264.99, so I'd wait if you're considering that.

My son until recently was using an old XPS 8300 (formerly my computer) - and yeah, the GPU issue was a problem. No RX card will work, and only an R9 that had a physical switch on the side to allow for legacy BIOS, would work among R9 cards.

GTX 1050Ti card prices are ridiculous for the performance you get from them. They have no business costing that much. It might be worth getting, say, a used 1060 6GB. However, I've noticed that, at least on Craigslist in my region, seem to go for just about what they were new. It's maddening.

i have this 1650 super

small and quiet for me. i've not even noticed the fan so have never heard any odd tendencies of how the fan runs. though i did pay $159 for it on sale which was an awesome price. think at $189 i'd look twice to be sure nothing better exists for the money.

for instance newegg has the windforce oc for $169 with free shipping

some 1660 models start around $200 but i don't see $40 more worth of performance vs the 1650 super imo. but if you can swing it, $225 for the 1660 super is a bit of a performance jump and you get 6 gb vram.
