hey all,
just got my interim build put together, nothing like i was planning lol but local sales change your focus a bit 😀
mobo: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
FX 6300
8 gigs ram
MSI R7 370 Graphics card

the problem is i'm stuck with using windows vista business for another month or so ( can't afford the $100 for window 7/8.1/10 lol) and vista is EOL.
i did a clean install, updated to vista sp2. i have video output (typing this on the PC now)
however under device manager / display adapters it has the little yellow triangle and Standard VGA Graphics Adapter instead of my R7 370, and when i click properties it says
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available"
is this card just to new for vista to recognize? or is it a hardware problem?
i can't find a display driver for vista at all, and if i did the R7 370 came out well after it so doubt it would be supported, any ideas?
trying to make sure my parts are good while in the return window :)
appreciate the help
thanks

Solution
no, you may can try 13.12 what was the last vista supported driver from AMD seeing for the most part the 300 cards were refresh of the 200 series that were refresh of the 7000 serires?? [13.12 is the driver I using now on a 7850]

may work fine then may not [reasons why I ditched AMD cards now ]

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%20Vista%20-%2064

card may work as far as driver but some added card features may not ??

all you can do is try and see its not like you cant uninstall them if not so good ??

just to add one more thing is do a custom install and only choose to install the driver -test that then try the ccc next and that's about all I would use in...

Solution
thanks for the links and info, much appreciated downloading 13.12 now, hopefully it works, just need it to limp along till next month lol.
in case it doesn't work, running on the VGA drivers wont hurt my graphics card will it?

should not .. ya, I all was been a amd fan but now they leave me in the cold with things like this I guess they feel if your not using the latesat today they don't have time to fool with you anymore -- I still run xp and vista and cant see any new card over a 7000 series from them [heck the NVidia gtx 960/950 cards still support down to xp still today]

use to be you bought hardware that supported what you were doing but now it you buy to support them

cool, i found a test copy of win 7 and tested it and it showed fine so i'll just live with the VGA drivers till next month and grab a copy of win 10, i haven't heard anything horrible about it so might as well go with the latest version, unless there's a reason to go with win 7, or 8.1 instead.

spying not withstanding of course lol
and not "upgrading" from win 7+
most of what i'v seen is people having problems with/after upgrading, (which is admittedly a lot of the people installing win 10)
can't find much about retail clean installs and issues after that. but now i'm searching lol
thanks.
