Question Is there a list of all laptops that have G2 and G3 sockets please anyone

I believe all CPUs in laptops are soldered in.... I could be mistaken.

Hi Jon thx, I know not all laptops' cpu's are soldered in (at least not in the video I watched on youtube

I just want a list of every laptop with the same socket as my laptop then I can buy an old broken one and reuse the CPU (the socket is G2)

After of course I watch a video before I buy to check I can get the darn thing out

I asked for G3 too for another reason, I dont want to swap the CPU's from G3 to G2




Do you think such a list exists anywhere... I certainly cant find one, maybe I should be the first and make one

And just because you find a motherboard that is the same socket doesn't mean it will fit - in fact, it probably WON'T fit unless it's the exact same motherboard.

are not all G2 CPU's interchangeable (please forgive me if this question is remarkably dumb)

I guess I knew I would need to seach whether my laptop could take the CPU.. but I was thinking this would be pretty easy

I misunderstood your statement - I thought you wanted to pull a motherboard from another laptop to use in your computer.

Regardless, there is no such list that is available for what you want.

You best bet is to first find what type of interface your current CPU uses (PGA vs BGA) - this will determine if you can even replace the CPU.

If it can be replaced, you should look up the various CPUs that were offered for that laptop and use that as a jumping off point to figure out what to upgrade to.

I figured, you know, there are loads of broken laptops with G2 sockets... i bet

So if I look for broken laptops first (with G2 socket)
then I could go from there... pick the best CPU from there

Cause just searching the CPU in laptop listings wont show anything, most dont list the actual CPU in the listing title

I would need to send a massage asking waht CPU it is, first I can just look out for basics like i5 or i7 duel, quad etc
