I am building a new computer and have my old ASUS Z97 with a 4790K chip and 32 Gig of memory to get rid of. Is there a market for these old components or should I just toss them in the trash. If there is a market, what are they worth? There is no local electronics recycling center near me so it is either sold or junked. Thank you.

There were several Asus Z97 motherboards, so the value may depend on the exact model. BUT, what I would recommend is going to E-Bay and searching for SOLD auctions. That is actual prices paid, not just listed prices.
For example, Asus Z97 motherboards sold for $50 to $150 depending on specific version.
4790K CPUs sold for around $50.
etc.

As a whole the motherboard CPU and memory I would buy from offerup for no more than $60.00

It's that balance between making that choice going older gear for a project or if the older parts are priced to close to newer counter parts to just skip and go new.

There is still great value in older systems and for the right price some get a second chance.
