Is there a MSCONFIG for win2k??

I was wondering if there was a version of msconfig in windows 2000. I just wanna check the stuff thats in startup(not whats in the start menu) I just wannna make sure my computer is running as good as it can.

You can copy msconfig.exe and regenv32.exe from Windows 98 to c:\winnt\system32 in Windows 2000. Then it will work the same as in Windows 98.

As part of Win 2K, the entire structure is different. MSCONFIG is not necessary as everything is adjusted tghrough the active directory. You should learn to use Active directory.

Windows 2000 does not utilize the msconfig. The Win.ini and system.ini are included for 16-bit application support. There is no autoexec.bat and config.sys if you have your security policies set right. The msconfig program should not be able to manipulate the registry anyway. Your service manager lets you disable services to clear up memory. Especially if your not using them. You can also set your page files minimum size to BaseMemory * 2 and the max BaseMemory * 4 this generally brings up speed. Or look in
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run for programs starting up automatically.
