Is there a usb dongle to receive mhl?

My Motorola moto x pure does not have MHL. The head unit of my Power acoustik receives MHL via USB-A 2. There is no HDMI on the phone or the head unit.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried a USB otg cable, may need to root the phone.

I did try OTG. I believe MHL is hardware that a lot of manufacturers stopped with the advent of Chromecast etc. I may root an older phone and try, but I don't hold out much hope. Thank you for the thought.
