Is there a way to bypass steam?

For quite a long time now, i have had a strange problem with steam. Everytime i close down a game, it won't let me click on anything not even the x to close it down. i have to actually go into the task manager and kill off steam and log back into my account. this is beyond ridiculous and i'm getting very sick of it. It makes me not even wanna use steam anymore and just use origin and uplay instead. So can i just go into a games directory and click the exe file and boot the game up that way and completely bypass steam?

did you try to reload your steam client some files could be corrupted and check if settings of it are not to stay always connect .

If I did that I would have to reinstall all my games I should only do that as a last resort is there anything else I could try first?

reinstalling steam did not help at all i'm gonna just use origin and uplay now and if the game is only available on steam i will just pirate it
