is there a way to keep a separate resolution in game

After recent windows update, I noticed when i alt tabbed, my desktop would also be the same resolution as in game, any fix?

in game resolution 1600x900, native/desktop is 1980x1080

Can't you just go inside the game's settings and choose the resolution ?

yes, but i don't want that resolution to be on my desktop
