Is there always a amber light on my motherboard?

I haven't noticed it before today, my comp still turns on and works fine. Next to the light it says Aux Pwr. its not flashing, its constant. I have a dell xps 8700.

Many motherboards have a light like this; it means that it's getting power on the +5VSB line, which is always active.

If you haven't noticed it before then they did a bad job, it's obviously TOO SUBTLE, because its job is to tell you IAM PLUGGED IN, DON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL YOU UNPLUG ME!

My ASUS has one, it's tinny but it's a piercing green.

I would have thought it's a troubleshooting one; I'm plugged in, therefore you know that x,y,z is OK, and the problem is elsewhere.
