Is there an easy way to remove grip washers?

On my Med Madness I want to remove the clear plastic screen that is in
front of the DMD. (I have an undamaged replacement to put in).
I have removed the DMD so can see the washers that hold it in, I don't
know the correct term for them, but they grip the plastic stud shafts
to hold the screen in place.
I have tried a couple of screwdrivers under opposite sides of the
washer, but I am more likely to snap a stud as they won't budge.
Is there a way to remove these things?

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

Regards,
Roger.

Cut them off. I'll send you some new ones.

They are nasty. I use sidecutters to cut them, and then twist them off.
Some of them are hard to get to, and you have to make a tear with the
cutters and then twist to break the pushnut.

I have had no problems removing and re-using them. Pry them up with a
jeweler's screwdriver until they are a couple of mili-meters up on both
sides of the post. Then take a needlenose and coming from directly
above grab the washer on either side and slowely wiggle it upwards. I
have never broken a post or washer like this.

Good luck

FWIW, they're more properly called "push nuts" (sometimes Pal Nuts, but that's
a specific brand). Trying to pry them off is touchy as you *might* break the
plastic stud. Cut them off with a pair of diagonal cutters and buy new ones
from Scot Bogart at pinrestore.com.

Thanks for the advice. I had begun to think cutting them would be
where I would end up, if there was no easy way to pull them.
I tried the prying with screwdrivers, but had pried as hard as I dare
and not budged the first one at all.

Roger.
