Is there any delay at all when using a wired network adapter as oppose to my motherboards network adapter?

So I've only had my motherboard for 5 months and it's already giving me some hardware issues (Asus Z170-A). Recently I was no longer able to connect to the internet and my computer wasn't even able to ping my router through ethernet that was connected to the ethernet port on my motherboard. Now that I've bought a wired network adapter I can connect, just pisses me off that I've only had it for such a short time and there's already something that has gone kaput.

Anyone I'm a little paranoid that this network adapter is going to give me some sort of delay when compared to being connected through my motherboards ethernet port. I'm almost 100% sure that there's going to be no difference, even if the difference is half a millisecond or something but I just want to confirm that there's absolutely no difference. This is the card I'm using:

There likely be a difference but I doubt you can actually measure it. Exactly how much will depend on how the pci bus is connected compared to the ethernet port. Its not like it is going to be much when you consider a video card is actually using more bandwidth than a 1g ethner port.

Almost all asus boards have 3 year warrenty maybe just rma it.

There is always going to be a better connection through a wired connection, there is very little difference in delay between the two, the PCIE slot just has to talk to the card now before going to the mobo.

I was thinking that but its such a pain making sure I have each and every part, piece of paper and screw that came with the board not to mention the hassle of tearing down and then rebuilding my rig. If there's no delay that's going to make a very minor difference then I'm not really going to bother. Maybe if something else on the board decides to kick the bucket I'll RMA it

So from what you've said I have nothing to worry about even if I'm anal about having the best connection I can get with what I have for online gaming and stuff? Obviously there will be some kind of a difference one way or another but is it going to so small that the last thing I have to worry about is adding "noticeable" latency compared to if it was connected directly to my board?

Yep, as long as you're not swapping to wireless there will be no difference in latency using an add in card so long as it uses the same standard.
