Is there any difference between RAM stick with different size?

Since I have an extra RAM slot I decided to get RAM sticks from our old systems. I found 2 2GB Kingston DDR3 sticks. The first one have the same height as my current ones, the other one is roughly half of its height. Another minor difference is one of them is assembled in China, and the other one is from Taiwan. I tried installing both and they both work. Currently I just used the Taiwanese smaller stick since I don't trust Chinese products as much.

Is there any performance difference between the two?

sounds like you are describing ultra low profile or ULP ram. performance shouldnt be any different based on the profile size. you can try mixing them, but not all ram likes to work together unless it's manufactured together in a kit. your system will also slow both sticks to match the slowest one mhz wise.

example of ulp ram:

My RAM increased by 2GB after I installed the extra RAM. Does that mean that they work together? Also my speed went down from 1600MHz to 1333MHz. Will it be better to have more ram or faster ram?
