Hey guys, what's up!
So, I'd like to know if there's any specific notebook that doesn't heat the palmrest. I've had already two laptops, and they all heat this area. The first one, an Inspiron 14R, heated a lot on the right palmrest. The last one, the one I'm using know, is a Vostro 5470, but it still heating, now on the right side (where the HD rests).
Is there any notebook that has it parts on the middle area or some technology that doesn't heat the palmrest? I live in a very hot country (Brazil), so this heat it's kinda a problem to me. I don't know if this happens because all of these two notebooks that I have/had uses aluminium.
Thanks!

Solution
Thin laptops will always have this problem, if you want a very cold laptop then a thick laptop like the Asus G751 or the MSI GT70 Dominator are good candidates.
Hey!
Thanks for you answer.
Do you know any laptop that doesn't heat on the palmrest but still portable? Unfortunately, those you indicate, beyond the fact that they aren't sold in my country and are very expensive, they don't see to good for carrying around.
Thanks once again!

I'm not really sure how much they cost in Brazil, but you could try getting an ultrabook. I'm thinking something like the asus zenbook, macbook air (just discontinued in the USA) or similar. These are rather expensive though.

I think the new Dell XPS series (at least the Dell XPS 13) is classified as an ultrabook now. Now, I'm only mentioning ultrabooks because they generally don't have a dedicated gpu, which is one reason they heat up. Also, they might not have a hard drive, but an ssd instead, which would not heat up.

The only other way to go would be to get a much larger/thicker laptop that has ample cooling, but these are usually reserved for gaming oriented laptops nowadays.

Wouldn't a ultrabook, for being thinner, dissipate more heat on the palmrest?
The Vostro is a laptop very thin, looking almost like an ultrabook.
Thanks!

Laptops are actually supposed to dissipate heat out the back, through the bottom, and out one or both sides. The parts of a laptop that heat up are where the cpu is, its heatsink/pipes, the dedicated gpu and its heatsink/pipes (if there is a dedicated gpu), and where the hdd is. Depending on how the laptop was made and whether or not the battery is removable, the battery area could get warm. The battery is usually towards the back of the laptop, but is sometimes in the middle section. Usually the hard drive is located under or next to the palm rest. The ram is usually adjacent or above/below the hard drive and doesn't generate much heat.

It is almost unavoidable for the battery not to get warm/hot, especially if its being operated in a warm environment. It doesn't get its own cooling system (unlike the cpu, and the hdd often gets heat vents). That's kind of why I mentioned getting a macbook air (or macbook, macbook pro if you do any video/music editing). Their batteries might operate a littler cooler because they're not separated into their own compartment like other removable batteries are.

I understand, but neither Vostro battery is removable. The mainly area where it gets hot is the right side of the palmrest, where the HDD is positioned. I don't know if switching the HDD by a SSD would solve it... I'm not confident to do it.

If the HDD is there, then getting an SSD would pretty much solve that heat issue. However, an ssd is a lot more expensive for the same capacity as an hdd.

You also need to see if you can even access your hard drive to be able to replace it. I'm not familiar with Dell's Vostro line, but I'm guessing if the battery isn't accessible, the hard drive might not be either without taking it to a shop.
