:-( I guess I know the answer, but wanted to clarify with you. Guys so PIV supports only RDRAMs, right?
Is there any other tricks to avoid it, like can some mobos help us in this situation. I wanted to buy PIV, but after RDRAM is a pain in the a#$ - expensive, not so powerfull.
Can you give your opinions on it?

No ddr solutions until mid 2001. RDRAM only way to go for now. Need i840 chipset.

Damn it, Intel is really screwing up. :frown: .

Thank you btemple. I wanted to build my PC on February 2001. But I hope there will be a miracle that Intel will come up DDR. Or another miracle I change my mind for AMD :frown: .

From what I can gather, by the time PIVs start utilizing ddr, Micron will have implemented it's Mamba architecture ddr for Athlon. Laying down 'L3' cache on the ddr module where there was just whitenoise. Performance gains are expected to be at least 10% off the top.
Intel will play 'cache-up' very quickly. I doubt Rambus will be providing IT for them: They'll be too busy in court trying to collect royalties on the wheel...
