im getting a new system and everything, and im wondering if i should get the gigabyte k8nf-9 or the more expensive msi k8n neo4 platinum. The msi motherboard is more expensive by quite a bit and is there any point to getting that? these are my system specs and i most likely wont get any new parts for the comp in the next 3 years or so, although i will get a new graphics card, maybe the 6800gt later in the year.

TheRod was maintaining a FAQ on that mobo in this forum. Do a search and read up on his experiences or shoot him a PM. What do you primarily plan on using the system to do?

I don't recommend MSI mobos - I've had too many bad experiences with their boards.

The system will be basically used for everything, from gaming to work.
what are the main advantgaes of getting the msi board with the different chipset? i've read the reviews of both boards and i still dont understand what the differences really are..

They will perform at close to the same level - they are based on the same chipset, but have slightly diferent features. For a few dollars more than the Giga board I'd go with the Epox 9NPA+ Ultra

I second the Epox, for the money is the best board, the only one better is the DFI but it only has 2 PCI slots and I wanted 3.
