I'm currently a college student in community college who is going to transfer into a normal 4-year college after I graduate. My major is Information Technology and already took a basic Python class and just started basic Java class. That being said, do many fields/careers in IT require you to know some language to get the job? When I took the Python class last year it never clicked with me and I feel like that is going to be the same with Java. If programming never sticks with me will it be hard to get a job in IT or is IT diverse enough so that there will be plenty of fields I could get into after I graduate? Outside of tech support what are some other kinds of fields that usually don't require you to know a language in order to be hired?

Solution
Well learning 1 single programming language is not going to get you a job, Since Nowadays you need to dominate a good number of those languages. But you will need to learn Java at some point since is one of the most used languages, so you're not wasting your time by learning Java, also you should learn JavaScript, and check for new rising platforms/frameworks like NodeJS, Laravel(PHP) just to put an example.

If you're looking for a safe path to find a good job, your focus point is in Front End Development/Web development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and learning frameworks for NodeJS who is rising a lot.
