Hello, i'm trying to choose a good sound card with good drivers for win 7 64 but it seems none of them have good drivers :(
Please help me choosing one.

My main use will be gaming and music on headphones, i want something not too expensive, with a good sound and a good processor that will take care of the sound processing and offload the CPU.

Can anyone help me?
Any gamer with win 7 64 and totally happy with your sound card?
Please let me know =)

Just about all the manufactures have worked out the bugs on there drivers for Win 7 I use a x fi titanium but alot dont like creative. I have never had a problem with my X Fi and i have been running win 7 since it was released. Another good card is the ASUS XONAR line they have many options so depending on your budget is you can pick one in your budget.

I find it weird to say but my creative labs x-fi titanium is working perfectly under win 7 64bit. I'd taken it out some time ago when I was running vista but the win 7 support seems to be much better.

I think when creative labs got involved with openAL their drivers got a lot better. I was pretty happy running on board sound except for some reason it was way to quiet hence I got a lot of line noise.

Creative X Fi is a lot better driver-wise than it used to be, the Asus Xonar cards are fantastic.

What's your budget?

Also, what are you planning on doing audio-wise, and what are your speakers? Onboard audio ain't no slouch any more and may well suit you perfectly well.

My budget is 150 to 200 at most. My use is mostly games on good headphones.
I value performance over sound quality but i like both, that's my main reason for getting a sound card.

Good to know, i might get one creative card then.
there are so many complaints in forums and newegg though.

Creative cards stink; lower quality and uneven (at best) drivers. The only thing they had going was EAX, which is essentially depriciated [due mainly to USB headphones and the depriciation of the DirectSound API].

For $150ish, the Auzentech Forte is the best option, and moving up to the $170 range, the ASUS Xonar D2/D2X and Auzentech Prelude become the best offerings. Moving up a bit more nets the ASUS STX Essence, the best soundcard currently out.

Just remember, USB headphones ignore soundcards [seperate audio stack], so if you go USB, forget the soundcard.

Hi there i recommend you buy M-Audio Audiophile 192(this car its amazing and great for listing music and playing games,im use this card before) or try Tascam US-100(its usb and have amazing function,no driver issue, just plug&play, perfect for laptop DJ and for beginner in making music),but i dont recommend you Creative(bad W7 drivers with clicks and pops).

Similar to some of the other posters, with the move to Windows 7 x64 and newer drivers (daniel_k's X-Fi support pack 2.0 plus the current Creative driver), I have no more issues with my PCI-E X-Fi titanium. So far everything actually sounds like it should, which is an exciting change of pace for a Creative card.

I am ONLY using the optical output with DDL, though, into Tritton AX 720 headphones, so I can't say if the analog connection is still choppy. I also tried switching to a Xonar DX but the results (again, using optical + DLL only) were pretty disappointing... lots of popping when audio started and weird echoes in games.
