Hey everyone, so i have 1 Monitor that only has 1 VGA Port and I have my Computer and my Xbox that need to connect to it. I have 2 HDMI to VGA adapters for each one (Pc, Xbox) . But my problem is: When i have my pc connected to the monitor to i switch to the xbox i need to Unscrew the VGA cable from the Pc and connect the VGA of the xbox. This is a loss of time and boring. What i want to know is if there is any type of adapter to connect the two VGA's Cables to IT (the Adapter) and that adapter connect to the Monitor and when i want pc " i only press a button to switch the source" or when i want xbox i press the other button to switch to xbox source. You know What i mean ?

PC VGA -------- \
ADAPTER (that can switch between both sources) ---- > Monitor
XBOX VGA ---- /

Best regards,

I dont have any DVi ports on my monitor, and Im not going to upgrade it to a better one soon because it's FHD. I would upgrade if it wasn't. I kinda want those 144hz monitors, but for now I'm good.

It is your money, so your call. I have four monitors/TVs plugged into my GPU. Eyefinity works with digital displays. It was possible to get it running with VGA I think, but the cards you'd use for it don't come with them. I'm using every output on my R9 280, which doesn't have a VGA output. Want to play an HDCP DVD? Not going to happen with VGA. There are reasons to upgrade a monitor OTHER than resolution.

BTW, why is DVi better than HDMI?

They are mostly the same. Or at least the same now. Earlier versions of HDMI...
They should be all over the place. Did you look?

I wish I could find one that accepts DVI inputs and outputs over VGA, but the ones I found were super expensive. This outputs over DVI, but you should be able to grab an adapter and get it working. Switches can make odd things happen so keep an eye out for issues.

Here is a VGA model. But the one above is probably better as you'd only need the one adapter.

Edit: Another reason the first one is better is once you upgrade to a more modern monitor, you won't need any adapters.

I cut the link off in the wrong spot. This is what I meant to link.

The second link is very old school. I haven't used one of those in a very long time. I saw a unit like the one you linked on amazon. I didn't link it, I don't remember why. Possibly because it looks cramped in the back and you did say you were using adapters. It should work though. I still think a DVI switch will be better. You can run digital right up until your monitor. It's better. And if you upgrade your monitor you can just run the switch with no adapters.

They are mostly the same. Or at least the same now. Earlier versions of HDMI had issues, but now that we are on 1.4 or 2.0, they support the same things. My center monitor is DL DVI, the surround monitors are on mDP to DVI connections, and my TV is plugged in over HDMI. I tell people to get DVI to VGA adapters and not HDMI to VGA for that reason. If you want to plug your new TV into your PC, you just lost your monitor.

The adapters are connected to the pc and Xbox and then vga goes in. so in this switch it will be connected two normal vga s cables

I understand that, but that means you are using two adapters. If you ran DVI the entire way you'd only have to adapt one cable.

Edit: "two normal vga s cables" Normal? You realize this is 2017, normal cables are DVI, quickly moving to DP.
