Is there anything missing from my build?

Hello,

I am in the final stages of buying components for my new gaming build, and I want to make sure I have not overlooked ANYTHING imperative.

I'll list everything I have / or in the process of buying:

- Main components: Case, fans, Mobo, CPU, graphics card, PSU, RAM, HDD, optical drive & OS

-Peripherals: monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers

-Accessories: screwdrivers, static wristband, cable ties

I have heard of things such as network interface cards and sound cards, do I need to buy these? If so, what should I get? Is there anything I may have missed?

Thanks to all who answer

Sounds like you have everything you need. You may want to post your actual components to make sure everything is compatible and whatnot.

Motherboards nowadays come with onboard audio, so you don't need to buy a sound card. If you want to have internet access you will need either an ethernet cord to connect to your computer from your router, or buy a wireless adapter so you can connect wirelessly.

Ok, thank you! My parts:

Case - Corsair Carbide Series 300R
CPU - Intel Pentium G3258 CPU Dual Core 3.20GHz
GPU - Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760
Mobo - Asus H81M-PLUS Motherboard
Optical drive - Samsung 24x Retail SATA DVD Writer
PSU - XFX ATX 550 Power Supply
RAM - HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB)
HDD - WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive

(Sorry it's not a PC Part list, I had one but changed my parts and they're all now on my Amazon wishlist)

Yeah, I agree with you. Since I'm only looking to play oldies for the time being (Fallout 3, Skyrim, Half-life 2) it won't be too much of an issue, however I will certainly upgrade it when the funds are available :)

You probably don't need to buy an ethernet card, most new MB have them already, same goes for a sound card.

You'll also need thermal paste. Get Arctic Silver in the small tube.

Don't forget to buy some SATA cables, sometimes MB and/or HDD don't come with them.

Doesn't look like you have a cooler listed. Get yourself an EVO or Corsair H80.

Have fun!

Oops didn't mean to pick a solution yet 😛

@d1rtydeedz - Thank you for the advice! Is it really bad if I'm planning to just use the CPU's stock cooler? I'm not ever going to overclock.

Keeping your CPU cooler will allow you to extend the life of your CPU, overclock [which I assume you plan on doing according to your build] and it just plain looks cool. The H80 has a great look to it, plus why not? You're building a computer because it's fun, don't skip on an important and wicked piece of equipment.

Will it extend the life of your CPU even if you don't overclock it?

And my Hyper 212 EVO didn't look so cool from outside my Case window 🙁. Only looks cool if you have water cooling lol.
