Question Is there anything worthwhile upgrading to from a 1070Ti with a $500 budget?

Not a big fan of having to turn down settings and thinking about how to get some more FPS in games. Originally planned to SLI till I realized my motherboard (Asrock Z370 Pro4) doesn't support it but supports crossfire instead.

Thought of couple of options - need some advice. Budget $600 total (including $300 from selling 1070Ti )

  1. Sell 1070Ti Fand upgrade to something Nvidia - not sure what
  2. Sell 1070Ti and cross fire two Vega 64

What do you all think?

What are you planning to use this pc for?
In general, don't go for the vega route unless you need some of the features that come with the vega 64, as the 1070ti is a far superior card, and crossfire won't reap much gaming performance over just one card on its own, and there is a possibility that the one 1070ti will actually be better.

Ok. I didn't know that. I just this video of Crossfire Vega 64 beating 2080ti.

You can get an RTX 2070 for ~$500. It's an upgrade although not huge.

Yeah - that's the issue. Doesn't feel like a significant enough upgrade.

A third option might be to replace the mobo for $200 with one that supports SLI and get another 1070Ti for $400. SLI 1070Ti should be enough for now till it's a wholesale system upgrade

Crossfire and indeed any multi GPU support is on the way out. Games just aren't being coded for it and even when they are microstutter and dropped frames are still a thing. It's always better to go for 1, more powerful card.

What resolution? The 1070 Ti should allow for 60 FPS with almost any title at 1440p max settings.

Actually that's wrong. Crossfire does have disadvantages like extra microstutter but Crossfire has long scaled better than SLI.

Quite a few games get no benefit from either. Lack of optimization means there are AAA games that don't even use the second card.

typical power consumption on the vega 64 is 295 watts... so putting two of those in crossfire would require probably a new PSU as well.
One of the mods has a Ryzen/Vega 64 system that was pulling more than 600w from the wall. He had to upgrade a 550w Seasonic Prime Titanium for it.

I'm on a 3440 x 1440 ultra wide. Assassins creed odyssey gets me 43fp on ultra. Its roughly in that range for battlefield 5, far cry 5 etc.

I just upgraded from a 980 Ti I bought new the month it was released to an EVGA RTX 2070 XC. It was a huge bump at the 1440p I play at. 20+ FPS gain at minimum. It's only a 60Hz monitor so I wasn't really worried about 100FPS but like you I like my image quality settings at max. The 980 Ti was starting to show its age in the newest AAA titles. That 2080 should be great.

Yes. Very excited. It's perfect for 1440p gaming between 60 to 100 fps which is exactly the freesync/ gsync range of my monitor. I also got the 2 slot twin fan version (versus the 2.5 slot amp) so I can sli it later with a new mobo
