Is there possibly a virus on my pc?

One day I was browsing the internet like normal, I went the website genius to look up lyrics for a certain song and all of a sudden a new tab popped up and downloaded something to my pc immediately, i didn't even have a chance to click off. Afterwards I scanned my whole pc with windows defender but it said it couldn't find anything. A day later I got an email saying that there have been many log in attempts for my epic account. Can someone shoot some ideas?

Scan with Zemana Anti-malware/Malwarebytes/Emsisoft Emergency Kit etc.

Problem is , you also can't even trust most e-mails that warn you of login attempts, either.....; most of them are in fact attempts to get you to 'verify' your info, i.e., give it all to them...

Safest to ALWAYS mistrust everything you read...

Set up a User account with no rights to install software or make system changes.

Use that account for general day to day browsing.....

And I agree with mdd1963 - watch out for those emails.
