Is there something wrong with my build?

I've upgraded my system last week. I went from Intel to AMD Ryzen. I´ll give you details of the builds first:

OLD BUILD

CPU: Intel i5 4400
MOBO: Gigabyte h81m-ds2
RAM: 2X4 GB (generic stick at 1333 Mhz)
GPU: ASUS R7 260X
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 500w
HDD: WD Blue 1tb
+ generic mid tower pc case (x1 fan)
+ 1920x1080 60hz monitor

NEW BUILD

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (3.20 Ghz not overclocked)
MOBO: ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS
RAM: 1X8 GB (HyperX Fury at 2400 Mhz)
GPU: ASUS R7 260X (same)
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 500w (same)
HDD: WD Blue 1tb
Case: Corsair Spec-04 (x2 120mm fans)
+ 1920x1080 60hz monitor

After installing all the lastest Windows update, the GPU drivers and the chipset update offering the Ryzen balanced power plan I decided to test the performance in gaming. So I opened League of Legends and went into a match but I realized that there was something wrong with the fps rates. I used to smash 140-220 fps in maxed out setting with the old build, but with the newer build I'm hitting 70-160 fps with the same settings. I haven't upgadred the BIOS so the current version is 613 (https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-B350-PLUS/HelpDesk_BIOS/).
I'm not sure If dual-channel memory has something to do with this, but it's the only reason I could find so far appart from the newest BIOS version's possible improvement.

I would definitely say that your single stick of RAM is contributing, however a quick Google search only indicates about a 5-15% performance boost. So I don't think it accounts for your problem.

If you don't have the latest BIOS, I strongly recommend getting it. Ryzen had a lot of performance issues upon release and the mobo manufacturers have been releasing a lot of fixes. If you NEVER upgraded your BIOS, then I think this is at least the most likely thing and should be checked first.

I hardly ever recommend reusing your PSU on a new build. Main reason is that the capacitors will wear out and it won't generate the same kind of power it did when it was new, and over the long term it will lead to more system failures. I would look at getting a new high quality unit.

I would also recommend getting faster RAM - for Ryzen you want at least DDR4-3000, 3200 or better would be preferable, and a 2 x 4GB configuration will be better than a 1 x 8GB configuration.

Agree with this post.

But even with a fresh PSU and faster RAM dual channel sticks of RAM, he is unlikely to get a minimum performance boost of 70 fps. Right? Maybe do all of the things recommended to you in this thread to get things up to speed. But no one thing will be a silver bullet.

Having a fresh PSU will guarantee your components last longer. It really doesn't have anything to do with performance, true. But PSUs are the one component on your system where the lifespan of the unit is critical. Because on a PSU, the capacitors degenerate over time and they won't have the same power or juice that they did when the unit was new. Doesn't matter if it's a top of the line Seasonic Prime or a bottom tier Corsair CX430. So when the time comes for a GPU upgrade, that power supply might not power it. I generally recommend changing the PSU out every 2 - 3 years to ensure that your system will handle whatever you throw at it.

Now as far as the RAM goes, Ryzen does benefit from faster RAM. The reason being is that when you start overclocking and enabling XMP, you will get better results in gaming. Ryzen is kind of tricky because it is very picky when it comes to RAM. Certain modules perform better than other modules do. And the differences are noticeable when you start enabling the full speed of your RAM.

When it comes to gaming, at least in some of games, the Ryzen CPU will probably be only a bit faster than the Intel I5, not sure if League of Legend is one of those games though.
Also for Ryzen you want a dual channel RAM kit, running at 3000 or 3200 MHz, as Ryzen will benefit a lot from that.
I agree with G-unit1111 that you have a pretty crap PSU, however that is not the issue with your performance.
In the end i think it's the combination of slow RAM and only single channel mode.

I'm not going to say it is a crap unit, but it is a low tier unit, and it is quite a bit old. That is the main reason I would look at replacing.

It is a crap unit, The PSU tier list at Linus, which is a bit more updated than the one here at Toms, rate it as lowest tier.

I managed to update the bios. While checking the clock speeds and I saw that I have an slightly overclocked cpu (3,5 Ghz) so that actually explains the cpu's idle temps (40 - 45 ºC) (I made and stress test to check the stability, temps didn't go beyond 67 ºC). The bios update raised a lot the performance. Now League of Legends runs @ 190-280 fps. There are occasional drops to 110 fps in some cases (areas crowded of entities/teamfights).
I actually did a fresh installation of Windows since it's a new hdd. I'm looking forward to get a new decent PSU and dual-channel memory by the end of the year.

That is a crap list. Explaining why it is a crap list would take too long and derail the thread, and if you want to know more, I can explain in a PM.

I wouldn't mind a PM with that info.

I would also like that PM as far as I know that list is fine and better and more updated than the list here at Toms. I mean, from the list here at Toms, how can they rate unsafe units at tier 2? What many of you guys seems to forget with that list is, if a unit doesn't have ALL safety/protection circuits installed they cannot be in a higher tier than 4.
