I have chronic back problems and cannot bear to sit at a desk for more than 30min without starting to get aches, even with a good chair/desk setup. Until now I have solved this by using laptops on the bed. However I am an avid gamer and cannot afford to play the newest best games and laptops that can handle them are now out of my budget so I need to figure out how to create an uncomplicated way to use a desktop. The nearest I can figure is a monitor by the bed and a wireless keyboard and mouse. However as I am so used to a laptop I am wondering if there is such a thing as a screen/keyboard combo that I can simply connect to the PC and use like a laptop with all the power of a desktop?

For your first solution I was sure there was a IKEA hack somewhere, but I can't find the damn thing.
It was a standard breakfast tray thing that someone put on a swivel combined with something wedge shaped to have the monitor aimed down a bit and something-closet-subdivider-thingy that would make the surface for keyboard and mouse.
There are professional options as well, but they're EXPENSIVE.

For the second, http://store.steampowered.com/streaming/ would be a thing, although it would require an actual laptop.
I don't know anything about a screen/keyboard combo that connects to a PC by wifi/bluetooth though I think smart-TVs/monitors (I don't own any of these products so I don't really know) have that functionality. Clamp that to a wide base for stability and add wireless keyboard/mouse again.

Oh and Nvidia shield is worth looking into.
