Is there such a thing as an "ACTIVE" MIni-Displayport to DisplayPort Cable?

I am connecting my FirePro W4100 to three Monitors using on each from Simple 4K Mini Display Port to DisplayPort Cables.

Am I correct that since MDp & DP are the same technology and my Monitors support DisplayPort I can go directly from mini-display port to Display port without needing some sort special converting adapter to make the cable active?

(Dell says something about the DisplayPort Cable needing to be of the Active type, but I see there is really no such thing except for 50 foot long cables and such. I understand to go to DVI or HDMI I need a converter if i use more than two non-DisplayPort cables.)

I was glad to get a solution on another forum for Startech Technical support in regards to Mini-Display port to Display Port being "ACTIVE" or Passive:
"No, DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort use the same signals so there is no need for these cables to be active unless they are very long. Typically, cables of this type don't need to be active unless they are over 30ft. Sam, StarTech.com Support"

So the answer is that Mini-Display Port and Display port are the same technology and Therefore a MiniDisplay Port to Display Port cable does NOT need to be "ACTIVE" unless they are greater than 30 feet long.
