Is there way to use first PCI slot and the third PCI slot as SLI? with msi z97 g9 ??

Hi All

Finally installed my second MSI GTX980 three days ago and I’m have some issues!.

My rig consists of the following:
Intel i7 4790K
MSI Motherboard Z97 gaming 9 ACK
2 x MSI GTX980
16Gb Corsair Dominator 2400MHz


I'm experiencing some issues with temperature of GPU. I installed the first graphics card in the top PCIE slot (slot 1) and slot 2 for the second GPU. I run some benchmarks and the first GPU is having very high temperature around 87s and second GPU with temperature around 62s. I tested both GPU individually and there is no temperature problems.
Then I tried to separate the GPU by using first and third slot but SLI didn’t work!

Is there way to use first PCI slot and the third PCI slot as SLI??HOW?

Your motherboard is unable to run SLI with the 1st and 3rd slot.
